Judah Seth Allison has arrived!

I was scheduled to be induced Tuesday morning, September 15th at 40 weeks 2 days. Even though I wanted my body to go into labor on it's own... I also wanted my Dr to deliver and I was ready to get this baby OUT.  Dr. Goodwin is awesome and she delivered both Eli and Olivia. Josh and I dropped the kids off at my moms the night before and headed home to get ready. I did sleep a few hours... pregnancy insomnia hit as usual (probably mixed with anxiety about the next morning) at 3am and I couldn't go back to sleep afterwards. We left for the hospital a bit after 6am.

Our room was ready and my nurses were ready and waiting on us when we arrived. I changed into my gown and Josh and I took a few pictures. After listening to the baby for a while my nurse started the dreaded pitocin. I was super happy that my IV placement was uneventful and my veins didn't blow (they blew 3 times at Eli's induction so I am always a little nervous). Initially I was 3cm and 50% effaced, however the pitocin and contractions began to do their work and around three hours later I was 5 cm and 70% effaced. My dr came in, broke my water and things started to get real.

I got my epidural placed and it was sweet relief. My right side didn't take as great but it definitely helped a lot! My mom arrived right after my epidural was placed. Not long after 3 pm my Dr checked me again and I was 8 cm , 90% effaced and baby was at station 0. The nurses emptied my bladder adjusted my epidural meds and left. Literally as soon as they walked out the door, I felt like it was time to push. Mom and Josh went to tell my nurses and Dr I was feeling pressure and sure enough I was at 10 and he was ready! My Dr let Josh put on gloves to help catch the baby and Mom was there helping hold my leg. I pushed through 8 contractions and our sweet boy arrived! He came out crying at 3:59 pm and peed and pooed after they laid him on my chest. Josh said he was slippery as he helped catch him and he cut the cord as well.  I had skin to skin time with the baby while my placenta was delivered, 1st degree tear mended and for about an hour afterwards. Mom left to go share the news and give us time together. Josh had been determined to see the baby before naming him. We had narrowed the choices to around 3 names during labor! I originally wanted Amos but Josh threw a big negative on that one. Isaac wanted Ulysees or Uriah (I vetoed those). In the end we were thinking Owen, Asher, Judah, or Seth (as a first name instead of middle). We agreed he looked like a Judah and so Judah Seth Allison was named. His name means 'Praise' and we do praise God for this sweet blessing. I'm sure we will call him both Judah and Jude for short. Plus he has the same initials as his Daddy.. JSA.

Josh went to the waiting room and brought the kids to come meet their new brother. They were all 3 in awe I do believe. Olivia was saying how cute he was, Eli kept commenting on his feet, and Isaac had a big grin on his face. Olivia had to hold him right away and was totally smitten with Baby Brubber. The nurse then weighed him in the room and did his vitamin K shot and eye drops.  We were all wrong on our guesses.. Judah was 8 lbs 7 oz ( I guessed 8 lbs even) 21 inches long and his head was 14 1/2 inches around. After time with the siblings, Josh brought the rest of the family in to meet our new son! We are so happy and thankful he is here safely!
