We decided we better take advantage of our freedom and see some movies before the wee one arrives. These are a few of the flicks we have seen lately:

Avatar-- Josh and Isaac gave this one an A+

Sherlock Holmes- We all enjoyed Robert Downey and Jude Law... very entertaining

The Blind Side- Very touching and great performance by Sandra Bullock

Snow at Biltmore

I talked the hub into getting us tickets to the candlelight tour at Biltmore and I decided to drag Isaac along since he has never been in the house. I love the Biltmore house so it was a treat going during the Christmas season and seeing the house decorated with the many  Christmas trees.

A Slight Mishap.....

Here is what happened.... On our way to bring Josh's parents a generator we got stuck in the snow! The road to his parent's house was a mess and when a car tried to pass, Josh pulled over to the right. Needless to say he pulled a little too far and we slid right into the ditch! Even with the great four wheel drive and traction control we were unable to get the ole four-runner out! We ended up throwing on our snow gear (which we had packed in the car) and started walking up the road to his parents house. He called to get his dad to bring the tractor to pull the car out. Their driveway is impassable so Josh, Chris and his dad made a sled to pull the generator up the hill on the tractor. When we got to the house the power was back on.... oh well! I had my exercise walking up the hill 7 months pregnant and Isaac had fun riding with Paw-paw on the tractor!

Finally some SNOW!

The weather channel predicted snow but I didn't believe it until I saw flakes start falling around 8 o'clock this morning! School was cancelled and Josh's office was closed so we had a fun day playing at home. It snowed all day! We went out to play with Kel and Leslie this afternoon.... Isaac had a blast sledding and throwing snow balls. Josh even got his snowboard out and was able to snowboard down the hill. I didn't partake in the festivites but I did watch the fun. I had to wear Josh's boarding pants b/c of course mine wouldn't fit! I don't have the offical number of inches because we haven't measured yet. Here are a few pics of the snowy fun!

26 Weeks

I am 26 weeks and counting.. and getting closer to the last trimester!! We had an OB appt today and everything went well. I had to do the glucouse screening which was not very fun at all. I haven't heard the results but I am sure they will call if something showed up. We are in the middle of rotating through the 5 doctors in the practice so we will know all the OBs when it is time to deliver. My BP was 108/62 and I gained 4 more lbs. Today was the first day they did measurements and my belly measured exactly 26 weeks. When the doctor tried to listen to his heart beat he kicked the doppler!! He kicked it everytime she tried to listen... he is definitely a fiesty little bug.

Well... he may be nameless for a while because my lovely husband wants to wait until we see him to give him a name! Hopefully I can convince him to make a decision before this new babe graces us with his presence. My sister is pushing for a name so she can monogram his belongings!

We did a little Christmas shopping while we were near the mall and finished getting Isaac's presents. He only gets 3 presents from Mom and Dad. Our philosophy is, "If 3 presents were good enough for Jesus then they are good enough for anybody!" We have been doing this the last two years and it works well. There is just not any sense in spoiling a child so lavishly when he has all he needs and wants.

Time to Move.........

We are going to be moving over Christmas break.... but only a mile down the road :) At least since I am pregnant I can just be the dictator tell the boys where to put things! Josh and Isaac think I am pretty good at that job anyway. We need three bedrooms since little brother will be making his appearance before too much longer. We are going to rent until we can start building. Hopefully we will be able to get our house built in 2010... I am sooo ready!!!

Baby Allison's Video at 22 Weeks

Belly Shot at Week 22

Here is a belly shot of week 22. I have grown by leaps and bounds the past few weeks. We had an OB appt today and another ultrasound. Everything looked good.. he is still a boy! His head was down and his feet were right at my ribs. I have been feeling him move for several weeks now. The last couple weeks his kicks and jabs have gotten significantly stronger. He is definitely a feisty little boy. My blood pressure was fine.. neither Josh or I could remember what it was when we got home. I have gained five more pounds... ahhhh. I think all those biscuits from the school cafeteria are starting to have an effect.

Last Football game!!!

I know I shouldn't put that title in exclamations but..... his football practice started the end of July so I am very much ready for it to be over. His team didn't do so hot this year but they did win the last game. Here is a pic of Isaac in his gear!

Halloween 2009

Isaac was a ninja this year....he picked out his costume via picture messaging on my phone... isn't techonolgoy amazing. Josh stopped at the Halloween store after work on Thursday and took pics of costumes until Isaac saw one he liked.

We had a Halloween festival/dance at our school on Friday. He told me that he wanted to go but didn't want to take a partner. I am thankful he is not obsessed with having a 'girlfriend'. After I told him there were no slow dances and he had nothing to fear he was totally pumped. He learned the 'Sinister Stomp' in PE for the dance.

On Halloween, it was raining and we were in Asheville for Nanny Fender's 70th birthday dinner so we took him by the mall. Lots of interesting costumes for sure, not too much candy... a good thing!

Here is a pic of my nephew Carter in his Halloween costume. He was a 'Pea in the Pod'. Too cute!!!

Name Game

We are really struggling with a name for this baby. We have decided on Thomas for his middle name but just can't come up with a first name. Thomas is for my dad, both my grandfathers, my uncle, my cousin, and 4 of my great-grandfathers. I also want the new baby's name to flow with Isaac's name. Hummm.... any suggestions??

Baby Boy Allison's Video

It's a ...................

BOY!!!
Today we went for our 18 week anatomy scan. The baby showed off and we definitly saw the 'boy parts'. Isaac was elated... he has been wanting a boy since he found out we were expecting! My checkup went fine: BP 116/72, and I gained 3 lbs. I will try to scan in the pics later.

Life and Death

My sweet grandmother died on Friday 10/9/09 at 8:00 in the morning. Rebecca Sackett Greenlee Boyd was a wonderful grandmother. I could tell her anything and sit and listen to her tell stories for hours. She cared so much for others and was the strongest person I know. I am proud to carry her name. It hurts so much to lose her... I definitly wasn't ready to let her go but I know she is pain free and rejoicing with our heavenly Father. She had endured cancer for over five years without telling anyone but her housekeeper... she did not want us to worry. It is hard to imagine life without her. She was so special and we were very close.

One down... two to go!!!

Today we went for our 14 week check-up.. I am offically in the second trimester! My blood pressure was 108/60, and Baby Allison's heart beat was nice and strong. I didn't gain any weight this time but the doc said that was okay since most of the weight gain comes during the second and third trimesters. She did say that my uterus was large, most likely because this is my second baby and the muscles had been stretched before... Yikes! Our next appointment will be Oct. 13th, when we will have an ultrasound and hopefully can find out if the baby is a boy or girl :) Cast your votes now!

Linville Falls

Sunday after church we went hiking with Chris, Jan, Kristin, Bryce and Braedon. We didn't want to go too far away so we decided to do the moderate hikes at Linville falls. None of us were feeling up to the 'strenuous' hikes! Besides keeping the boys from falling into the Gorge and seeing a heron it was pretty uneventful :) I just love fall... it is definitely my favorite season! We had a beautiful day...the air is starting to feel crisp and cool and the leaves are just beginning to change. What a gorgeous area we live in!

Quotes from Izzer

Mom, "If you make 100 on your latin stem test, spelling test, and multiplication test, we will get you a reward." "What do you want?"

Isaac, "A new book!"

Dad (eyes roll because he is so much like his mom!)

(After End of Grade testing at his school)

Isaac, "Why do all the kids have to go to re-de-de-ation (remediation)."

Mom, "What is it called?"

Isaac, "Re-de-de-ation."

Mom, "One more time."

Isaac, "What! Is that not how you say it?"

Mom, "Because all kids can use re-de-de-ation!"

Bryce and Braedon, "It would hurt so bad to get hit by a paintball."

Isaac, "Yes, it would leave a 'welch' (welt)."

(Isaac and Dad having a stinky sock war fight.)

Isaac, "Is that sock lint or dan-drift (dandruff)."

Back to School

Today was the first day back to school for the kiddos. It is so hard to believe that Isaac is in 4th grade this year! He had a great first day and has several of his buddies in his class as well as a great teacher. He is playing football again for the third year in a row... of course Josh is helping coach! We are looking forward to a great school year and hopefully a much shorter one for me!

Flutterby- 10 weeks

Today we went to our 2nd OB appointment...and we heard Baby Allison's heart beat on the Doppler! So cool :) It was 164 beats per minute. All my blood work and results were back and everything looks good so far. Josh and I looked up on babycenter.com to find out about heart rate and gender. We found that a higher heart rate over 150 may be a girl and lower under 140, could indicate a boy. The nurse practitioner said it was an ole wives tale... so who knows. We will find out in 8 weeks whether Isaac will get a brother or sister; he wants a boy!

Time Traveler's Wife

My sister gave me The Time Traveler's Wife to read on vacation. I wanted to have it finished before the movie came out but I have been distracted since we came home from vacation and haven't been able to read much. I have enjoyed what I have read so far. I was itching to go do something so I asked Josh to take me to see it. Even though he says he does not like to go to 'chick flicks,' he secretly does ;) Isaac's Nana and Papa were begging to keep him so he spent Friday night with them. He enjoys Nana and Papa time as much as they do... they spoil him just a little bit. Ha.

We got a late start because Josh had been golfing with his buds and I went wedding dress shopping for one of my best friends. I had been queasy all day...I wanted to eat but wasn't sure what I wanted... I did know what I didn't want. The 'bean' (we have been calling the babe the 'bean', even though it is really a 'prune' right now) and I vetoed PF Changs and Thai. We finally decided Pomodoros.. Italian seemed to hit the spot. We ended up having to see the 10:10 pm movie and I was about ready for Josh just to take me home after dinner b/c I was so exhausted.... but I sucked it up, got a second wind and we had a good time and enjoyed the movie. He laughed at the end b/c of all the women sobbing in the theater. I did fall asleep on the way home!

OBX

We went to the Outer Banks for summer vacation this year with my family. Last year we went with Josh's fam so we try to take turns! We went with my mom, step-dad, uncle, nanny, cousin, sister, brother-in-law, baby nephew, husband and son. We stayed in a nice resort in Kitty Hawk with plenty of room for everyone!

The guys went fishing and golfing a few times. I did go sit on the pier and watch them fish once... not really my cup o' tea! They caught Croaker everytime they put their pole in the water. When you take the fish off the hook they 'croak', hence the name.

My little nephew enjoyed sleeping under the cabana at the ocean. The lull of the sea put him right to sleep. He had plenty of willing hands to hold him all week and my sister enjoyed the respite. I gave him a bath a couple times and fed him his baba. Mom tried to get Josh to change a diaper for practice but he opted out!

On Saturday we went sightseeing. We originally planned on going to take the ferry and see the Wild Horses but we shot that idea down when we found out it was a 4 hour drive round trip.... not too fun especially since we were going to drive so far on Sunday to get home. Instead we went putt-putting, to the Wright Brothers Park, and to see Bodie Island lighthouse. Nanny was the queen of putting; she had several birdies. Isaac even made a hole in one! I, however am not a good putter. My score was 76 and par was 42.... oops. Fun none-the-less. I am posting a few pics from the experience. Since Isaac will be studying NC this year in 4th grade we decided a nice educational trip to the Wright Brothers Park would be up right up his ally! To end the day we went to see one of NC's many lighthouses, Bodie. Unfortunatly we could not go up. Pretty pics though.

All in all we had a great relaxing vacation. I worked on my tan and read 7 books. I did take a shot of my 8 1/2 week bump... not posting it though!! I am feeling good.. morning sickness stay away.

Rolly Coasters

Isaac and I went with Josh to Orlando, FL on his buisness trip. The resort, The Gaylord Palms, was spectacular and we had a great time. Isaac and I played in the pools and basked in the sun while he went to classes ;) Isaac made a friend as he always does and played on the water slide until his arms were sore while I read a couple books! We did manage to take Isaac to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure before we left FL. The boys loved the "Hulk" ride. Side note: Going to a theme park pregnant is not very fun... you can't ride much!

Rock-a-bye

Josh's dad is making us a baby cradle for the new addition. I have been scoping around trying to find a pattern that I like. Nothing like a handcrafted cradle made by a grandfather that can be passed down through the generations!

Isaac's 9th Birthday!

Isaac is turning 9!!
To celebrate we hosted a pool party at his Nana and Papa's house. As usual it is never a small affair. He invited about 10 little boys and all of our family. I asked if he wanted to invite any girls but he adamantly exclaimed, "NO girls!" We had pizza, ice cream and cake and the kiddos splashed in the pool.

6 week appointment

Friday we went to our first Dr. appointment for the baby. They did bloodwork, vitals, exam, and an ultrasound. We saw his/her heartbeat (109 beats per minute), saw my ovaries and the little 'yoke sack'. The baby is only 5 mm right now! They said everything looks good. Offical due date: March 15, 2010.
